Summary
Set in a modern-day setting.
Kratos, a grizzled ex-soldier haunted by a brutal past, struggles to raise his 11-year-old son, Atreus, after the death of his wife, Faye.
Living in quiet isolation near the mountains, Kratos works under-the-table jobs with the eccentric brothers Brok and Sindri, doing heavy labor and odd contract work to support himself and Atreus. Faye’s last wish—to have her ashes scattered at a remote mountain peak—is a promise Kratos intends to fulfill when summer arrives.
