Summary
Set directly after Captain America The Winter Soldier. Bucky walks away from Steve on the river bank. Free from Hydra's control all Bucky can think about is getting as far away from them as possible. With no memories of who he is, he has to rely on what he is trained to do. He sets out to find the perfect place to lay low and maybe even call home. When he arrives in Newport, Oregon, he can't help but feel a sense of peace. He has no memories, no idea of who he is or what he even likes, but he's determined to not let that hold him back from building a life in the small tourist town.
Steve is not going to give up on Bucky, no matter what. When he learns of where he is living Steve immediately heads there. He is not going to let Bucky go through this on his own. Bucky might not remember all of those nights they spent together, but Steve does and he's determined to show Bucky all the love he feels for him, and hopefully, Bucky will fall in love with him all over again. But with Hydra out there and Bucky being a wanted criminal, Steve knows the only way they will ever find true peace together is if they free Bucky from Hydra completely and clear his name. Assuming they survive the war that is heading straight for them.

Summary
In 2015, Steve and the Avengers search for Bucky Barnes, thanks to a little extra intel from the future. GEN-based hurt/comfort/angst story, heavy on friendship, recovery, and examination of one very traumatized guy from the 1940s. COMPLETE, Standalone.
This canon-based multi-verse story takes place immediately after Age of Ultron. What does that mean? Because this is part of my Winter Soldier Time Travel series, it takes place in a canon-compliant timeline offshoot from the original canon-based story. I recommend you read Part 1 of the series (Winter Soldier: Resurrection), but you can easily understand this story without doing so. However, Part 1 is an easy read, less than 40K words, and it'll give you the background for this story. Part 2 of the series isn't relevant to Part 3, so you don't have to read that long story to understand this one at all. The end of Part 1 leads directly into Part 3 (Isn't the MCU multiverse fun?). LIGHT Bucky/Natasha.
