Summary
Will Graham needs help. After years of being off the roster, he's invited back to the FBI to help solve a prolific case. Soon, though, his job begins to wear him down. He needs someone that he can talk to— but that someone has ulterior motives in mind.
Hannibal Lecter is the Devil, roaming Earth for eons after falling from Heaven, and he ropes Will into something that he can never escape. The two make a deal and form an unlikely partnership, one that will not end in the way that Will is expecting it to.
Eventually, Will won't want to escape. Eventually, that partnership will be the only thing keeping him alive.

When Will Graham woke up this morning, something in the back of his tangled web of thoughts spoke with alarming clarity; The backdrop is set. Something extraordinary is coming.
The first time he built a tableau, out of poor Freddie Lounds no less, he prayed that the Ripper would see him. He must have. The idea thrills him, gives Will a sense of wanting he hasn’t felt since the first time he saw a Ripper scene.
Suddenly the universe’s message is well–received. He knows this face. He knows those eyes.
And, evidently, those eyes know his too.

They sit on the deck, facing each other, drinking burnt coffee instead of wine. Nothing differs from life on land in these moments. Each conversation is one that could have easily been had before the cliff and the kitchen. Will thinks that’s why it’s so taxing and exhilarating, comfortably infuriating.
“I told you once,” Will begins this night, ignoring the reflection in his mug, “that, should I kill you, I would do so with my hands.”
“Yes,” says Hannibal. “I recall. A static moment full of promise--I would be hard-pressed to forget.”
“How would you kill me?”

Will thinks he's dreaming and takes the chance to touch Hannibal in such a way he could never in real life. Hannibal is starved for his touch and would let Will do whatever he wants to him.
