Summary
Uncle Iroh- for some reason Zuko yet again failed to understand -refused to shoot lightning at his nephew. When further asked about it, he'd said something about it being for safety and health reasons (although it was still a bit unclear whose health he was referring to).
Zuko had never been able to count on luck though. If he wanted to ensure he could get an upper hand against his family, he would have to go and look for one himself, like with pretty much everything else in his life.
But perhaps people should really be careful of what they wish for. It might become true in the least expected ways.
Or:
Zuko gets cursed by the spirits and things go differently than expected, but also not much changes -

Summary
Katara took a step. She jingled. She hopped. She jingled louder. She ran around the room and jingled so loudly that it made her screech with joy, and the only thing that stopped her in her tracks was the sight of Zuko with his hands over his face.
"Why're you doing that? Are you crying? Why's your ear turning red?" she asked, not recognising the signs of a man desperately resisting the urge to squeeze her until she popped.
-
Or, four year old Katara lands in the future. Zuko deals with it.

Summary
The world expected the Avatar to awaken alone.
It didn’t account for her—a girl who refuses to let him face the world unprepared. From the moment Aang is freed from the iceberg, he isn’t navigating a war-torn world by himself. At his side is a fiercely protective companion, far too perceptive for her own good—someone who knows far more about the balance of power than she lets on.
She is not the Avatar.
But she commands air, water, earth, and fire like she was born to it—and she refuses to let the last airbender carry the weight of the world unguarded.
She finds herself caught in a different kind of conflict.
Because somewhere across enemy lines, a banished prince becomes fixated—not just on capturing the Avatar, but also on the girl who stands beside him. And the feeling is… dangerously mutual.
He can’t stop thinking about the girl at his side—the one who meets his anger with a steady gaze, who doesn’t flinch, who looks at him like she already understands him.
A retelling of Avatar: The Last Airbender where destiny shifts, loyalties blur, and the line between enemy and ally burns hotter than either of them expect

FOR EVERYONE WHO THINKS AZULA DESERVED A REDEMPTION ARC
Over a year has passed since the war ended.
The Gaang has gone their separate ways, and the world is slowly learning how to live in peace.
As Fire Lord, Zuko dedicates himself to repairing the damage his nation once caused. But behind the palace walls, his sister is unraveling. Imprisoned and isolated, Azula's mental health continues to deteriorate and Zuko fears he may lose her for good.Desperate to help her, he reaches out to the friends he once fought beside. Trust is fragile, especially for Katara and Sokka, who struggle to accept the idea of helping the girl who once hunted them.
Along the way, unexpected connections begin to form, including a complicated bond between Azula and Aang one neither of them fully understands.Ursa has already been found in exile with the help of Team Avatar, just as history remembers-only without Azula by her side. Though she remains distant from the center of this story, her presence lingers through Kiyi, Zuko and Azula's younger half-sister, whose visits quietly remind them that family is never simple, and never truly gone.

Summary
"So why don't you announce your relationship?" Aang suggested softly before quickly adding as Zuko's golden eyes met his gray ones, "if you two want to, obviously, but isn't that tradition? To announce exciting things about the Fire Nation during the celebration?"
Zuko paused, trying to process what that would be like, to finally be out in the nation he had personally toiled away at for days and nights to ensure safety, to finally be rid of marriage offers and letters and watching as nobility nodded sadly when he had to reject them.
"It's not the worst idea." Sokka supplied softly, gently running his hand up Zuko's bicep.
Or: Sokka does drag, Zuko finally stops procrastinating on coming out to Iroh, and Toph still punches people in the arm, all with a week-long celebration as the backdrop.

The burns are deep. Aang frets over them as he keeps watch, the smallest flame cupped in his palms, too small to do any damage. Zuko assures him that this–this is not all that comes from fire.
(Tries not to remember how exactly skin smells when it begins to burn, flake away.)
Or: Zuko doesn't choose Azula during the Crystal Catacombs.
Or or: His sacrifice and everything that comes after.

Summary
This is essentially a timeline-accurate work of fanfiction with extra scenes and "episodes" disguised as a shameless OC insert.
This fic will center around the ENTIRE gaang, rather than revolving around a single character. Featuring various ships (most of which are Canon, some of which are not- Azula and Ty Lee would've been cute together, that's all I'm saying)
This is an impulsive creation, and will likely be edited several times in the process of publishing chapters. -

Sokka thought he knew that humanity was capable of unspeakable things the day the Fire Nation took his mother from him.
But only when he and Team Avatar (It’ll catch on soon he swears) come across a scarred boy barely older than Sokka deep beneath Lake Laogai, does he realize that he hasn’t even seen a fraction of the world’s horrors.

This is HEAVILY inspired by r_astra's "i'll find my own way down" series. That was peak fanfiction and i recommend it so much!

Summary
100 years ago, Fire Lord Sozin lead the Fire Nation into war against the other three nations, completely wiping the Air Nomads off the map and turning his sights to the Water Tribes and the Earth Kingdom. The Avatar, the sole person responsible for the peace of the world, vanished around this time and hasn't been seen since, and many have begun to lose hope that he even still exists.
Aang was never the Avatar. His twin sister, Anya, was saved at birth because she was the Avatar's next incarnation. Now, a hundred years have passed and as the last Airbender, it's his jobs to teach the current Avatar airbending...whoever that may be.
For three years, Zuko has searched for the Avatar at the behest of his father, along with the promise to have his honor returned to him. Desperate, Zuko has put every once of his being into this search, and now his luck seems to be turning around. An airbender - the last in the entire world - has been sighted in the Southern Water Tribe, and Zuko just knows that he knows where the Avatar is - if the nomad isn't the Avatar himself.
Yet he keeps insisting he's not. So if he's not the Avatar, then who is? And what is going on with these damn dreams?

Summary
There was a boy in the iceberg.
Katara’s first instinct was to run to him, despite Sokka’s protests and his tugs on her sleeve. There was someone in need down there, and she wasn’t going to just leave him.
He looked about sixteen, at first glance, sprawled at the bottom of the cavity she’d created. His untidy black hair fell over his closed eyes. His face looked almost peaceful, she thought.
He was also wearing red.
When Katara cracks an iceberg to find a Fire Nation boy, hers and Sokka's initial thoughts are that he's a spy sent to kill them.
Turns out that isn't true. -

Summary
The thing about Aang was that he was just like that. He was exactly the kind of person to say 'I love you' to just about anyone, whether that was a friend or a stranger or someone's pet iguana. Because it was easy for him. Because why wouldn't he.
It's not like it was supposed to mean something, right? Obviously, it didn't.
Or
5 times Aang said 'I love you' + 1 time Zuko said it back
