Summary
Far from being controversial or disliked by the community at large, Suselle remains a rather interesting shipping when it comes to discussions. Some would argue that Suselle is basically canon and arguing otherwise would be denying the story while others would claim that Suselle is being intentionally promoted for the sake of a subversion later on. Indeed, it is not that uncommon to see theorists arguing that Suselle is poorly written and has no connection to the larger themes of the story, with even people who like the shipping agreeing that it's pretty derivative and inoffensive.
Even thought this work is far from being a comprehensive analysis of Suselle, there are certainly many things for us to bring up. We will discuss what evidence for Suselle there is in the game proper, whether Suselle has any connection to the narrative and, of course, whether its criticisms are justified.

I made this work because I wanted to see more of him interacting with his students, or at least doing more professor things. Also, I wondered what it'd be like to actually develop a romance that felt in character for him, even though canonically him being in a romance feels off to me.

Various headcanons about the brothers and side characters. Some are completely platonic unrelated to MC and some are romantic, but all of them contain at least a little insight into their characters beyond the basic prompt. I've done my best to avoid assuming any specifics about MC and account for different personalities.
These headcanons are generally about the same tone as the game itself was (before the 2021 retcons) or a bit darker. They're not set in a super sadistic Dark!AU, but they're definitely not light and purely fluffy either. Diavolo, Belphegor, and Leviathan are pretty much always yandere. Think of it as canon-plus, but I'll still write any relevant warnings in the author's notes of each chapter.

It’s like the sorrow is palpable in the air. It’s so thick, like years of torment that haven’t even happened yet are his, and he can hear the faint call of something, no, someone. He can’t quite make out every word, like they’re submerged in liquid, yet sometimes a word does escape.
And sometimes, Will thinks he might give up and listen, might believe how weak they truly make him sound.
