Will didn’t wait for Mike to move, stepping forward to press them flat against Mike’s chest. His hand flew up to clutch the papers, sure that Will could feel his heart hammering behind his sternum. Will dropped his hand and headed out into the sun before Mike’s liquid brain could even process the words. Mike was left standing in the middle of the kitchen, his body effectively turned to static.

When Will comes back from the Upside Down for the first time, he acts weird. He seems nothing like himself, apart of the hive mind.
2 years later, Will and Mike go back into the Upside Down together. And Will comes back, off again. Nothing like when he was apart of the hive mind. Will stops eating, never wants to go outside and hangout anymore, and is somehow more charismatic than before. (Mike isn't complaining about that part.) Will turned into a fighter, beating up all of the Partys old bullies. Mike realizes that the old Will would never, he just blames in on "people changing" at first. But Mike still misses the old Will, so he investigates where Will is heading off to after school. It's nothing like he could ever imagine.
