Summary
Buck is deeply affected by the loss of Tommy, who died during a training flight. About eight weeks later, the 118 is called to the scene of a horrible accident involving a prisoner transport and SWAT officers. Sergeant Donovan Rocker is among the injured. Hen and Eddie are stunned to find that Rocker bears a striking resemblance to Tommy while they are fighting for his life on the way to the hospital. They also worry about Buck, who is still blaming himself for Tommy's death.
Despite the concerns of Eddie and the rest of the team, Buck frequently visits Rocker and develops a bond with him. Their friendship deepens when Rocker learns he may be confined to a wheelchair. Buck, who has faced a similar situation, takes it upon himself to help the SWAT leader through this challenging time. Although Rocker is initially hesitant, he starts to feel a connection with Buck that he can't explain. And Eddie? He keeps a watchful eye on Buck. After all, he fears that his friend has gotten himself into a mess because he can't come to terms with Tommy's death.

The door opens, and oh, god.
Buck's eyes widened, his fingers gripping the plate in his hand for dear life. He's pretty sure his heart ceases to beat in his chest for a second because that's not the sweet old lady he was hoping for. He wishes he was getting a door slammed in his face again because this is worse. So much worse.
Tommy's mouth falls open for a split second before he slams it shut, his eyebrows pulling tight as he stands in the doorway, staring like it's weird Buck is here. Like Buck isn't the one who just moved in, and Tommy isn't standing in his neighbor's house staring at him.

“What are you doing here?” Buck asked, “I thought you were going to station six?”
Eddie had that shit eating grin he got whenever he was being a cheeky bastard, “Last minute change of plans.” He gave a faux nonchalant shrug.
Suddenly Buck’s face fell into a suspicious glare, “You’re not fucking with me, are you? Rocking up to tease me with those abs of yours and then fucking off to your actual station?”
Eddie’s smile turned fond, enough confirmation that this was for real, “No, I’m here for good.”
“Good, I’ll introduce you then.” Eddie followed Buck as he led him back to the small group, “Everyone this is Eddie Diaz, Eddie this is Hen, Bobby and Chimney.”
“I didn’t realise you two knew each other.” Bobby said, analysing the two of them.
Eddie and Buck began to laugh in unison, “Know each other?” Buck said, speaking through the laugh.
“We share a mortgage.” Eddie finished for him.
