“And have you try anything funny when I’m driving? Fat chance. Suspicious people that crawl back from their own grave don’t get front seat privileges, Munson.”
Eddie is going to die at the hands of Steve 'The Hair' Harrington. He'll take him somewhere in the dark, drag him out to the woods and brain him with that bat that he's clinging so tightly to. Maybe he'll be able to do the job that Eddie is too much of a coward to do himself; maybe it's easier that way—kinder.
Or
Eddie's back from the Upside Down after nearly two and a half years, hungry for something that isn't Burger King, and Steve's the only one with a house empty enough to hide him away.

Things couldn't be better; Nancy is nearly done with her degree at Emerson College, Robin is happily working as a barista, and the kids have graduated, which means it's Steve's turn to join them.

Summary
Vecna is dead. Hawkins is a ghost of what it used to be. With Max waking up from her coma and Eddie having been rescued and brought back from the dead, the group is finally moving on from their past. They try to, at least - it's impossible to forget the horror from the last few years.
While Steve does his best to help Robin through nightly panic attacks, Eddie is trying to grasp the fact that he's alive in a world that doesn't want him.
El's attention is directed toward helping Max through her recovery while her own relationship to Mike crumbles, and Will fights to keep his secrets hidden from his best friend.
