Billy started shifting blankets, finding Steve’s face. “Talk to me.” One of Steve’s eyes opened, big and round and full of something Billy couldn’t place. “You okay?”
“I went to the doctor today. I was up all night throwing up.” Billy kissed his forehead.
“What’s the verdict? You alright?” Steve shifted, sitting up, holding a soft pillow to his chest. “Flu? Strep? Hand-foot-and-mouth disease?” Steve didn’t laugh. Didn’t even smile.
Billy was fucking worried.

He doesn’t care about country music, or fancy horse riding, or the beauty queens, even the bull riders.
What he does give a fuck about it not being in his house today.
Not when his dad was obviously itching to pick a fight. Not when Max gave him such an easy out over breakfast.
“I saw a flyer for a rodeo. I think it’d be kinda neat.”-
Steve is a lonely member of the Harrington American Rodeo.
Billy is bored and wants to spend as much of the summer outside of his house as he can.
They spend a summer growing closer, playing with horses and listening to a lot of country music. -

Summary
Billy scrunched his eyes, his head pounding with such an ache, he thought it was going to fucking explode.
He wanted to rub his forehead, but his arms were heavy and his hands refused to move.
There was an annoying beeping, and he wanted to destroy whatever fucked up alarm clock was ringing out to him this early in the morning.
He forced his eyes open despite the pain, and was met with an unfamiliar ceiling.
It was white, with tiles separating the harsh fluorescent lights. And it most certainly was not his bedroom. He looked to his left, finding the source of the stupid beeping to be, not an alarm clock, but a black screen, a green line rising and falling with his heart rate.
It was elevated, the machine crying out for the nurses to check him out.
Because, he’s in the hospital.

"I'm not." Kenneth says against Steve’s swollen lips before catching them in a kiss, more than a little into the way he can taste himself there. Maybe he is not lying. He loves a lot about Steve. There is plenty to love.

Summary
When Nancy calls him bullshit and breaks it off Steve goes back to the party looking for something he's been missing since he got with her. Kenneth is more than happy to have him back.

"But for real, what do you want butterfly?"
Steve wants to melt at the use of that nickname in that tone, warmth flooding him as he tries to lean close again. Pouting once more when Kenneth continues to keep a firm hold on him. “Want to get under this skirt." He admits, hand dropping down to the tartan pattern at Kenneth’s waist and trying to wedge a finger under the tight band with no luck.
"This is a kilt, not a fucking skirt." Kenneth practically growls, moving his face in close enough that their noses touch before leaning back when Steve tries to catch his mouth.
"Does it matter?" Steve whines, fingers scratching along the fabric of Kenneth’s kilt, over his stomach, still uselessly looking for a stretch to slide his fingers beneath.
"Yup." Kenneth pops the p, smile smug.
"Fine, are you going to let me under your kilt?" Steve pouts bottom lip jutting out as he makes big eyes at Kenneth.

Summary
Billy knows a thing or two about scars, has a few himself. He knows what animal bites and claw marks look like, as well as some… less savory injuries, but in all his life, he’s never seen anything like that.
“Holy shit,” he breathes, unable to stop himself, and Harrington nearly slips on the tiled floor, he spins around so fast.
“What?” he spits when he sees Billy’s wide-eyed stare, like he’s issuing a challenge, like he’s bracing for impact.
And Billy’s never been able to leave well enough alone, so he gestures vaguely in Harrington’s direction, mouth curling halfway into a sneer, and asks, “How’d you get those, pretty boy?”
He curls in on himself, a defensive position, but his eyes are bright and flinty when he replies, “Fighting monsters.”
