Tradition dictates that, once an uma knows whether they're an alpha, beta, or omega, alphas and omegas will be betrothed to be mated before they can race. Tradition also dictates that they aren't allowed to meet until after they've done so. Normally, this is done shortly before they enter Tracen.
Biwa Hayahide, a beta, gets a bit overzealous, and Narita Brian is betrothed to her mysterious Omega at age eleven.
This both changes things and changes nothing at all.

“I mean,” says Hiro, and flashes Rei another grin, “He applied?”
“What do you mean, he applied?!”
Rei may have spent years travelling with the hero’s party- both to defeat the lich Karasuma, and to bring Hiro back from the dead. But none of it matters, not one bit. When it comes to Akai Shuuichi, Rei still has no forgiveness in his heart.
So he’s not about to let the man swan in and win his hand in marriage.

Before they leave, Fu tells the kwamis to find a lonely, golden-haired rich kid and a caring, blue-haired creative.
Soon after, a scowling, loudmouthed Chat Noire crashes into the scene with a Red Beetle that smiles calmly but whose eyes are narrowed with thinly veiled rage.

I was borne via a homunculi myself," Kaeya hummed with all of the disinterest brought on the conversation, looking down as he slowly swirled the wine in his glass.
Albedo's eyes narrowed at what he was sure was supposed to be an insult, but Kaeya always knew how to poke at his pride. "I think you'll find me designed far different from your expectations of homunculi."

“Because it’s not arsenic,” Conan says, voice a little blank.
“Because it’s not arsenic,” Shuuichi says with a nod.
Furuya has attempted to murder Shuuichi quite a few times. That may be part of the reason why Shuuichi doesn’t quite care.

"Heathcliff," a woman's voice says, and startled, Heathcliff looks up. A white haired woman stands on the other side of Hong Lu. She looks down at them dispassionately. Something about her tickles a hazy memory, but Heathcliff doesn't know her. "Your emotional state is preventing the Mirror overlay from separating properly. You need to calm down."
Heathcliff doesn't know what that means, and he doesn't care. Doesn't she see that Hong Lu is dying? "I need to help him," he insists.

Han had looked terrible when they'd been sent back. He'd looked dead. Han seems all-knowing and untouchable, and seeing him like that had been an unpleasant reminder that he's human just like the rest of them. "Everyone was worried about you."
Han levels a flat state at him, not quite a glare but not impressed, either. "Worried, my ass," Han says derisively, like everyone's worry is imaginary at best and at worst, Aaron is a fool for having gotten caught up in his own emotions again.
