A long pause, then a laugh. “Wheeler? To what do I owe this late-night honor?”
“I, um.” Nancy’s tongue feels stuck to the inside of her mouth, like bare skin on upholstery. “I was wondering if you’ve got a couch I can crash on?”

It’s Robin, not Nancy, who needs a leg-up into the Upside Down, which leaves Nancy holding a foot clad in a red Converse sneaker at eye level, reading some graffiti which leaves her with some questions.
When the battle’s over she goes looking for answers.

Summary
Robin Buckley’s life has never been particularly exciting, but she does find that lately, it’s full of surprises.
She’s surprised at how easy it is to excel in all of her senior-level classes. She’s surprised at how much fun she’s having with her best friend at their grating yet tolerable job. Hell, she’s surprised that Steve Harrington’s her best friend in the first place.
And she’s never liked surprises, but these are the good kind of surprises.
The good kind, that is, until she finds herself in a place she never imagined she’d be: head-over-heels for her best friend’s ex-girlfriend, Nancy Wheeler.

Summary
Robin had been watching Steve since his first day at Scoops Ahoy!. She had seen the way his face lit up when one or more of the kids came in. She heard the way they all teased each other. She knew that Dustin looked up to Steve more than anyone in the entire world, and that Steve took that responsibility very seriously. Not answering the kid wasn’t an option for Steve, even if he wasn’t ready for the conversation.
Robin made her decision very, very quickly. She trusted Steve, Steve trusted this kid… so Robin would trust him, too. She didn’t give herself time to panic or second guess her decision. She crossed the room in two big steps, opened the door, yanked Henderson inside, and slammed the door closed on Steve’s shocked face.
