His eyes flicked to Hopper before trailing to look behind him. He could feel his body tensing, seeing the curls hiding behind Hop’s figure. A glimpse of eyes looking towards him, though not quite seeing the face. Brown eyes, the ones he memorized in his dreams, the kind that looked at him so fondly. A puppy-eyed expression that would make him melt. Steve pulled his hand away from Hopper, letting out a small shuddering breath. Pained in a way that only the hurt in his hand kept him grounded. He wanted a drink.
