There on the ground lay a fallen flower. One Tommy had never grown in his yard before so there was no way it had come in. Ranboo hadn’t been by in a while, and even though he often brought flowers, he’d never seen these.
He carefully picked it up to examine it closer, turning it in around calloused fingers. A marigold. Red and swirling yellow petals were dulled and browning at the edges. It looked as unhealthy as he felt.
Something beneath his skin moved as if sensing kinship. Tommy dropped the flower and clutched at his racing heart and Tommy knew it hadn’t been a dream.

Klaus was self aware enough to know that he’s been fucked up for a long time. So sure, the nightmares, the heart palpitations, the way his lungs collapsed when he thought about his childhood for too long - yeah, it sucked, but he was used to it. The flashbacks, though. They were new.
After two months post the almost apocalypse, Klaus was feeling pretty proud of how carefully he had maintained his mask of normality around his siblings. He was still fidgety and annoying, sure, but none of them had glimpsed at his fun new brand of fucked.
