During NASA’s latest Mars Mission an astronaut becomes stranded on the desolated planet after his team assumes him dead, and he must rely on his ingenuity to find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive and to survive a potential rescue. Hope and survival really aren’t on his side, but he has a family to make it back to. Death isn’t an option; however fatal his situation may be, he is willing to defy everything known to man for a chance of holding the love of his life one more time. And Christopher, he desperately wants to return to his son as well.

Will and his team of scientists are headed out on the first of three manned missions before the first group of settlers arrive. Three days before launch, one of the crew has to be replaced. Will panics because...new people.
The replacement is of course one John Watson, biomedical engineer and space hottie who was pretty sure he had retired from actual space exploration and was now content to work in the nice, quiet research lab.Can the crew survive this TOTALLY ROUTINE trip? Will they be able to endure each other for the looooooong trip in close quarters?

Guarantee there will be drama. And explosions. And Will is gonna do something cocky and stupid. Really good chance for some zero-gravity boinking (bet ya didn't even know you needed that in your life).

I'm really liking this unique and creative look at how the Ares 3 crew could work together to problem solve their way off Mars once the MAV tips on Sol 6.
For example, Beth remembers that Ares 4 has supplies already heading toward Mars. They just need to request (via Morse Code rocks) that house be re-routed to Ares 3. And here's just spoke of Vogel's input on converting hydrazine to water:
"Vogel says we probably want to burn the hydrazine in a pop tent filled with a hypoxic air mix (less O2) so we minimise risk of an unexpected explosion. The pop tent’s high surface area, poor insulation and low volume should allow the heat to dissipate quickly."
I'm really excited about this and the other fics which this author has posted for The Martian!
