Summary
After losing his house due to a fire, Verdant temporarily moves in with a friend. Ruze is understandably reluctant to house him but that reluctance paired with a list of dozens of strange rules, makes Verdant feel there's more behind it than wanting peace and privacy in his own home.
Parts of the demon bruise his stomach, points of pressure digging vengefully into his stomach, while others send shocks of dull pain through him from inside. Mixed with that pain is an anticipation, heavy enough that Verdant's head spins as he realizes he's become a conduit for the demon's bated breath.
His mouth is open, unable to close as more and more of the demon funnels in. Verdant is a mature adult who knows how to handle situations like this, albeit usually in more mundane manifestations.
He licks the demon.
It recoils immediately, leaving him cackling in the grass as he struggles to catch his breath. It's a pathetic sight, really, especially when the laughter worsens his nausea and he barely manages to roll onto his hands and knees before his stomach upends itself. Even then, the situation is so ridiculous that his fits of heaving are broken up by fits of laughter.
