Summary
Charles surrounds herself with pretty people. It’s not conscious, and it’s not even from a judgmental standpoint. It is largely because she is an athlete with majority athlete friends, so most of her friends are going to be, at the least, fit. Strength and athleticism aren’t the only qualifiers to beauty, obviously, but there is always beauty in strength and drive, which is what all of Charles’s friends have, men and women. It is a strategic move, because if Charles is just as pretty as everyone else in her circle, then the focus will be on her talent, on her brain, on her career, which is far more pleasant to talk about than her looks.
Esteban Ocon is not part of Charles’ circle for many reasons, but a big one, a main one, is that Esteban Ocon is not pretty. Esteban Ocon is fucking gorgeous, and there is a difference between the two, no matter how much everyone else wants to pretend there isn't.

Logan finds Oscar and curls him into a tight hug. Oscar’s hands hold tightly onto Logan, grief and anger and shame clear in just the curl of his knuckles in Logan’s jacket. Logan holds on just as tightly, as they both keep the other afloat. Oscar will do better, and Logan will be there for him when he does, and it will be perfect.

His eyes dart down to his phone, with the infernal, awful app known as Instagram bright and blaring white, cold light across the bathroom tiled walls and ceiling, washing the room in the blinding, sharp awareness of Lewis’s own shame. George, or the photo of George that the man himself posted just a few hours ago, is smiling up at him. Lewis smiles back, unconsciously, before immediately catching himself and groaning. He hangs his head down, running his hands over his face and into his hair to grasp sharply at his braids.
Get a fucking grip, man, Lewis thinks, a little disgusted, This is getting pathetic.

Skeppy lolls his head back, lets it rest against cold blackstone. He hasn’t slept for days, his stomach aches from hunger, and the tender part of his heart has been cut out and discarded.
You’re getting hopeful, Dream had told him softly, almost sadly. I can see it in your eyes. It’s pathetic. Hope is useless down here.

Summary
Of all the colors, Mumbo misses red the most.
Red was Grian’s favorite color. Some days, he’ll catch himself staring longingly at a rose or an apple, trying desperately to remember how it felt to see red.
Back when the incident was still fresh and new, Mumbo would dream in color. Now, though, he dreams mostly in shades of gray. Sometimes he wakes up with the memory of blues, purples, greens, pinks fading from his mind. He’ll stare up at his dark roof and try to retain as much of it as he can, but in the end it bleeds away - like it did that day - and he’s back to his world of black and white.
In actuality, it’s not the lack of color that really bothers Mumbo. Sure, not being able to see color can make it difficult for him to redstone since he uses wool for pathways, but that’s something he can overcome.
What really bothers Mumbo is what the lack of color means.
It’s been a few years since the incident, and most days are fine - but really nothing can prepare someone for losing their soulmate.

Sinclair sighs longingly.
“Okay, man, I can get behind you on the sweet and salty,” says Gareth, “but New Coke?”
“He was crazy for it,” says Harrington, grinning all fond at the back of Sinclair’s head like he’s retelling the story of his toddler’s foray into the world of art and talking Gareth through all the monstrosities in pride of place on the fridge. “Weird kid.”
Eddie is smiling at the side of Harrington’s face and Jesus Christ, Gareth never wants to meet another gay man in his whole life if their taste is Steve fucking Harrington.
