Mike lets Will in on the secret of their next campaign, that Will the Wise is overcome by vampiric urges after being bitten in their last campaign. Mike jokes, saying Will could creep up behind him and bite his neck during the reading, for as he put it, dramatic effect. Will just can't seem to let the idea go. In the same way that Mike also can't seem to let the idea of writing the campaign out go.

Mike accidentally gives himself a D&D obsession, somewhat dragging Will with him. Will, who is totally not completely enamored with the way Mike is suddenly constantly talking to Will about it, sees no harm in playing into it. Mike wasn't so bad to be around, even if it was, genuinely, constant.

Prince Will Byers was always capable of siphoning the magic out of others, but due to bad people and local gods trying to abuse his powers, he was asked to refrain from using it. So after the war over the Stranger Lands ended in their victory, Will was left entertaining himself with poker, cheating at poker, arts and travels. Not a bad life, as long as one could forget about the all-encompassing longing for his childhood best friend - a dashing knight, Mike Wheeler. Who was dating his sister.
(Mike actually hasn't been dating El for a while. So, at least Mike has no excuse for the quiet pining.)
When El is cursed with a sleep spell, Will leaves the castle to find enough bad magic users and rob them to free El from the spell. He does not expect Mike to follow him and spend confusingly romantic nights under the stars. Oh, but Lucas and Dustin are there as well.
Or: Fantasy AU with heavy DnD flavor. Will and Mike pine, travel together and play gay chicken for no reason whatsoever besides that Mike is an idiot (said lovingly) and Will is too prideful. Will gambles a lot.
